Since mid-2011, law enforcement services have been provided to the community of Half Moon Bay through a contract with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
Services range from patrol, dispatch response to emergency calls, investigations, and community policing, to coordinating emergency preparedness efforts, enforcing traffic laws, coordinating the annual Youth Summit, and managing the Sheriff’s Activity League on the Coastside.
The Sheriff's Office also partners with the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center (PCRC), a nonprofit organization providing localized mediation, facilitation, partnerships, training, and collaboration around neighborhood issues. Another crucial partner is Community Overcoming Relationship Abuse (CORA), which helps those affected by domestic violence, with counseling, emergency housing, legal assistance, and more.
