Half Moon Bay Leadership Awards for Students - Cash Prizes to be Awarded

March 26, 2018 - Students are invited to apply for one of the City's annual Leadership Awards, which recognize outstanding achievements and leadership qualities of middle school and high school students. Deadline for application is April 27.

Annual Leadership Awards Program

Cash prizes to be awarded


Half Moon Bay, CA - The City of Half Moon Bay invites students to apply for one of the City's annual Leadership Awards, which recognize outstanding achievements and leadership qualities of middle school and high school students.

These awards honor students who have distinguished themselves as role models among their peers. Areas such as work ethic, community service, leadership, social responsibility, and/or overcoming obstacles to accomplish goals are considered.


APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY 5 PM, FRIDAY, APRIL 27, 2018.

If a hard-copy application is preferred, they are available at City Hall, 501 Main Street. Hard copy applications must be emailed to CWei@hmbcity.com or dropped off or mailed to 507-B Purissima Street, Half Moon Bay, CA, 94019.

Five awards are typically given, one in each of the following grade categories:

8th grade: $100 Award
9th grade: $100 Award
10th grade: $100 Award
11th grade: $200 Award
12th grade: $1,000 Award

Requirements:

  • Must be a student in good standing enrolled in middle school or high school in Half Moon Bay
  • Must have a good attendance and academic record
  • Must have volunteered in the community
  • Must illustrate leadership skills or exemplary social responsibility
  • May have overcome adversity or serve as a role model to others

Located 28 miles south of San Francisco, the City of Half Moon Bay is a community of about 12,000 people, situated on the peninsula between forested hills and some of the most beautiful coastlines that California has to offer.
